Keynote Speaker: AnMarie Martin, Georgia Peace Officer and Community Activist
AnMarie Martin is an extraordinary, charismatic, woman who hails from San Juan Puerto Rico. At age 36, she decided to leave a successful and lucrative career in corporate America with Emeritus Corporation to pursue her life-long dream of criminal justice. A survivor of childhood abuse, she has always longed to work in the field of law enforcement to protect those individuals who could not protect themselves. Martin is currently employed with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Special Operations / A.D.V.A.N.C.E. (Avoiding Drugs Violence and Negative Choices Early) program. She is one of five deputies who facilitate the A.D.V.A.N.C.E curriculum in the local school system.
Martin is a non-traditional student at University of North GA currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Community Service is significant in the fabric of Martin’s life. In her spare time, she mentors young girls, advocates for women’s rights, and continues to be a pillar in the Gainesville Community. Locally she has accepted numerous speaking engagements sharing information on making personal commitments, drug prevention and awareness, sex-trafficking, and goal mapping.
In 2014, Martin was one of the featured speakers during the Women’s Weekend annual summit held at First Baptist Church Gainesville. Additionally, she has facilitated workshops since 2012 during the “Empowerment Day for Young Women” which is organized by hall county schools. Martin was chosen to be the keynote speaker at Brenau University’s 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation day.
Lastly, AnMarie was nominated to be one of the 2014 Community Heroes by Women Source; a local non-profit organization whose motto is “to encourage personal and professional success for all women in Northeast Georgia”. She is a valiant woman who tells her story with vigor, humor, and sincerity. When asked about her greatest accomplishments in life, she speaks about raising two beautiful daughters with her husband of 29 years Jose Ricardo. One daughter Stephanie is a law student at Berkley University in California; the other Natasha is pursuing a Master’s degree at Florida State University.

Biography of Jaime Rangel

Jaime Anathaneal Rangel is a DACA recipient, born on May 17, 1991 in the town of Apan, Hidalgo in Mexico.
When he was three months old, he was brought to the United States illegally and lived in Jersey City, New Jersey until he was in second grade when his family moved to Dalton, GA. Growing up, he has always considered himself an American. He has been a Boy Scout and he was one of the first Latinos to ever play baseball in Murray County High School. Rangel was even offered two scholarships to play college baseball; however, being an undocumented student at the time made it impossible for him to pay the out of state tuition expenses.
He graduated from Murray County high school in 2009 and is currently attending Dalton State College, pursuing an Accounting degree to meet his ambition to work in finance.
Rangel is a GALEO Institute for Leadership (GIL) alumni and has recently stepped up to be a facilitator for the GIL program. He also serves an active role within the GALEO Leadership Council as Vice-Chair of the Advocacy Committee.
Jaime Rangel said, “Thanks to GALEO I have met so many people who have helped me go on a unforgettable journey where I have been involved with a political campaign, had the opportunity to meet world leaders, work alongside amazing people who want a better Georgia, but most importantly learn how to be a servant to my community.”
