This documentary is the first of its kind to study the power and influence of Latino voters.
Miami, FL – The producers of Lost Barrel Films are pleased to announce a casting call for a young Latina female subject for their historical documentary. Gianpaolo Pietri, director for the film, explains “a big part of the film will focus on the real-life story of a young Latina woman between the ages of 18-25 as she explores her role as a newly eligible voter in America’s electoral process”.
The film, the largest Latino-led film project ever successfully funded on Kickstarter, begins filming this summer through the November Midterms and all the way through the presidential election of 2016.

The producers are not looking for an actress or professional, but rather a young woman who is a “regular citizen” willing to share her personal story and journey as she learns more about what it means to vote in America. The following are a summary of the requirements which must be met for consideration.
› Must be female › Must be 18-25 years old
› Must be Latina of Mexican descent
› Must be a legal U.S. Citizen (no exceptions)
› Must be eligible to vote
› Must have never voted in a previous election in the US
› Must not be registered with any political party in the United States.
› Must live and/or study in the following states: Florida, Texas, California,Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada
› Must be willing to travel within the United States
Bilingual candidates (english and spanish) are preferred and the candidate should be comfortable in front of a camera. The candidate will also be required to keep a journal of her experiences during the filming period so should have strong writing skills and enjoy keeping a regular diary.
HOW IT WORKS – Application Instructions
Step 1: Candidates must complete a written submission application which includes submitting 2 pictures (300px x 300px) and a 2-3 minute video. It also includes answering a detailed questionnaire, and writing a 400-600 word biography telling the producers about yourself and previous experiences.
Step 2: 10 finalists will be chosen from the written applications. Each finalist will participate in a 30 minute Skype interview with the Producers in order for them to get a feel for the candidates presence on screen.
Step 3: 5 finalists will be chosen following the Skype interviews. Each finalist will participate in 1-2 LIVE interview sessions and SCREEN TEST with the Producers. Candidates should be prepared to answer more questions about themselves.
After the Live interviews, the Producers will choose one finalist as the subject for the documentary to be announced at a place and time of their choosing.
Shortly thereafter, production will begin at the candidate’s city of residence and will continue at 1-2 week intervals for the next 2.5 – 3 years.
