Manzano.jpgDr. Sylvia Manzano is a Principal at Latino Decisions. She works with clients on strategic planning, research design, demographic research, and all aspects of survey research. Manzano project portfolio focuses on Latino voter engagement and policy influence in the United States. Client initiatives she has directed include the Latino Election Eve Polls in 2012 and 2014, a multi-method a national research project on the unengaged Latino electorate, and a series of state reports examining the impact shifting demographics have on politics and policy.

Her academic research has appeared in numerous journals and edited volumes including Political Research Quarterly, State Politics and Policy Quarterly, Politics and Gender, and Urban Affairs Review. She has been interviewed by numerous media outlets including The New York Times, La Opinion, The Houston Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times and National Public Radio.

Manzano holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Arizona. Prior to joining Latino Decisions, Manzano taught at Texas A&M University.

Leri Argueta, College Coach at Beyond12,and Alumni of the GALEO Institute for Leadership Class of 2015

In the fall of 2013, Leri Argueta began his leadership journey by joining Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraterinty Inc. at the University of West Georgia. Through this organization, he served as Vice-President for the undergraduate chapter where he led his chapter through various involvement like, “Take Back the Night”, “UWG Latino Preview Day”, and speaking about Latino Communities in Social Work Courses. In 2015, he presented at HoPE’s Leadership Conference  and at the Latin American Association Youth Leadership Conference where he facilitated workshops on the importance of education and leadership with the Latino youth today. Also in 2015, he became Co-Chair of CALEO’s Cesar Chavez Essay Contest where he working together with a committee to raise the awareness of this great civil rights leader. Leri now works as a College Coach for Beyond 12, where he assists first generation latino youth to finish and suceed during and after college. Leri strong passion for working with youth and education stem from his own story of being the son of immigrants and being the first in his family to graduate college.
