188 Organizations Nationwide Call for a Dream Act Vote, Now
As Members of Congress Announce the “Queen of the Hill” Resolution, Advocacy Organizations from Across the Country Call on Speaker Ryan to Bring the Dream Act for a Vote
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, 188 organizations – including 101 national organizations and 87 local organizations – released a public statement urging Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) to immediately bring the the Dream Act for a vote on the House floor.
Following President Trump’s termination of DACA last year, Republican leadership has refused to bring the Dream Act or other bipartisan Dream solutions to a vote. As the statement explains, “A majority of the House – and by extension, a majority of the American people – agree we need a vote on the Dream Act now. Congress must also reject Rep. Goodlatte’s bill which would criminalize immigrant communities and fail to offer permanent protections for Dreamers.”
The letter follows a bipartisan press conference, held today by Representatives Pete Aguilar (D-CA), Jeff Denham (R-CA), and Will Hurd (R-TX), to announce the “Queen of the Hill” resolution, which would force a vote in the House on four measures to provide relief for DACA-recipients.
