Highlights from the 2nd Annual Latino Leaders Summit!


GALEO & OLAS (Georgia Gwinnett College) are proud to present the 2nd Annual Latino Leadership Summit, a premier event where you can further develop and hone your skills to the next level. Our goal with this summit is to educate, empower, and inspire Latino leaders from across the state by conducting workshops, networking sessions, and bringing in panelists & keynote speakers to motivate attendees and educate participants of policy matters in order to positively impact our communities and continue to pave the way for future leaders.

The summit will provide space to discuss important social issues pertinent to Latinos in the nation and will focus on the extraordinary influence Latinos have to empower those in their communities.

Tracks Include:

ENGAGE TO IMPACT

This workshop is designed for those seeking to be engaged in our communities, but don’t know how. We will be diving into topics such as the power of your leadership narrative. You will learn how to effectively use social media to create change in your sphere of influence. We will also discuss how to create relationships with your elected officials and tools to keep up with local, state and federal legislation.

POLICY

This track is designed for those eager to learn more about Immigration & Voting Rights/Systemic Issues in local, state and federal legislation. Additionally, there will be opportunities in these workshops to gain more expertise on strategizing during the legislative sessions.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Are you embarking on your career? Ready to take your career to the next level? Not sure what you want to step into next? The professional track is designed for you if you answered yes to any of these questions. In this track you will learn what your leadership values are and how to apply them best in all aspects of life. You will gain insight to strategize your career path and gain the best support to help guide you through it. You will also gain some public speaking skills that will prepare you for any speaking or presentation engagement.

Please be sure to pick a track that best fits your needs when it comes to your personal leadership growth.

Other plenary sessions will include:  Leadership Challenges, Policy Updates on Immigration & other topical issues, Keynote Speaker: Giovan Bazan

We anticipate that the summit will prepare and encourage those who attend to embrace our momentum towards success while reaching out to those who are less fortunate than us. Finally, this summit aims to further build up our community and emphasizes that the spark to ignite change is within us!
