Thank you for your support of our GALEO Holiday Social!
Donating to a good cause never tasted so good! Thank you for those of you who joined us for the 2014 GALEO Holiday Social and our “Tamales for Justice” fundraiser. Your donations will help us get ready for the protection of Latino voting rights in our state. Currently, we are looking at the at-large voting systems in both Gainesville and Dalton. We believe that these voting systems dilute the Latino community’s ability to elect candidates of choice and may likely be in violation of the Voting Rights Act. Your donations will help support our efforts in these matters.

If you were not able to attend, you can still donate to the Latino Voter Defense Fund here.

The Challenge:  Nearly 3 billion people worldwide continue to live in poverty, subsisting on less than $2.50 a day. In the United States alone, 46.5 million citizens, or 1 in every 6 people, are considered living below the poverty line. Additionally, 76% of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, with little to no savings – one unfortunate incident away from falling below the poverty line. Economic distress continues to be the root cause of much of the turmoil nationally and abroad. (Statistic References: 2012 Census Bureau)

The Solution:  At Operation HOPE, we believe in providing a hand-up to self-sufficiency while strengthening the economy by empowering those earning less than $50,000 a year. We are the first nationwide, nonprofit financial services provider to the underserved, working poor and teetering middle class. Through our work, we turn check-cashing customers into banking customers, renters into homeowners, small business dreamers into small business owners and minimum wage workers into living wage consumers.
