Georgia DREAMers are working hard on SB44 and they need your help!  Please make a few calls this week!  Please call 1-844-885-2793 and support SB44.

This number has been set up to direct calls to Georgia Senators on the Senate Higher Education Committee.  Your calls can make a difference.  Please call and then circulate the number widely to generate much needed support for Georgia DREAMers on SB44.

SB44 would provide for deferred action student to be eligible for in-state tuition.

Thank you for helping stop SB6 (so far)!
The legislation would ban access to driver’s licenses to those who qualify for deferred action under #ImmigrationAction and would also deny it to victims of domestic violence. It would also authorize DMV to collect your DNA.
SB6 was assigned to the Georgia Senate Public Safety Committee.  It still has not gotten a committee hearing and did not get over the Cross Over day deadline, which means it remains a viable legislative initiative for 2016 and parts of it could be added on to other driver’s license legislative initiatives.  We will be monitoring this and alert you should something happen these next few days.

YOUR phone calls made a big difference! Thank you!

Other legislative initiatives from our ProGeorgia allies.
HB92 Family Care Act –  1-844-822-2779

“Presently, the House Industry and Labor Committee has been dragging its feet on taking a vote on the Family Care Act bill, which would allow workers to use the sick days they’ve earned to care for a child, spouse or parent without being penalized by their employer.  Your voice can give the push needed to get a vote on this critical piece of legislation.  In a moment, you’ll be connected with your state representative – tell your representative to call for the vote and vote YES on HB92.”

HB194 Reduction of Early Voting Days – 1-877-721-4574

“In a moment, you’ll be connected with either your representative or senator. Make sure to tell the Georgia General Assembly hands off early voting and to vote NO on HB 194.”

SB15 Minimum Wage – 1-844-749-7985

“Currently, SB15, a bill to increase the minimum wage in Georgia, is being held up in the Senate Insurance and Labor Committee. Polls show that 3 out 5 Georgians support increasing the minimum wage. Your voice can give the push needed to get a vote on this critical piece of legislation.  In a moment, you’ll be connected with your state senator – tell your senator call for the vote and to vote YES on SB15.”

SB129 RFRA – 1-855-982-2729

“Currently, the House Judiciary Committee is waiting to hear the so-called “Religious Freedom” bill.  But legal experts have warned that this legislation could open the door to discrimination against gay and transgender Georgians and jeopardize women’s health and children’s welfare.  In a moment, you’ll be connected with your state representative – tell your representative to vote NO on SB129.”
