POSITION SUMMARY
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs of the City of Atlanta is looking for an experienced professional with a background in immigration policy and program management to oversee the office’s community engagement and economic empowerment initiatives. Position will report to the leadership team and will be responsible for design, implementation, and evaluation of community engagement and economic empowerment programming based on recommendations proposed by the Mayoral Welcoming Atlanta Working Group and approved by Mayor Reed, as well as initiatives set out by leadership team. This is a full-time, salaried position with program management responsibilities, including, but not limited to, financial responsibilities (budget development and management, grant writing, etc.), contract management, community outreach and marketing, and design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of program service delivery, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS
Develop and implement community engagement and economic empowerment initiatives based on Welcoming Atlanta 2014 Plan and develop measurement models to track progress and effectiveness of programs;
Lead development, planning, and implementation of community engagement and economic empowerment programming based on initiative recommendations;
Create impact driven programming based on overall goals of the administration;
Facilitate the definition of programming scope, goals and deliverables;
Prepare and manage a budget for community engagement and economic empowerment programming;
Develop streams of federal and private funding to support high priority programs;
Serve as the community liaison between the City of Atlanta and the immigrant and refugee community, as well as the receiving community;
Leverage the work of local nonprofits and identify partnership opportunities;
Develop educational and cultural events to engage the receiving community and to highlight and promote Atlanta as an international city;
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIRECTOR
5-7 years of program design, management, and evaluation experience and an advanced degree;
Experience with immigrant, refugee, and/or vulnerable populations preferred;
Excellent oral and written communications skills;
Able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, impact driven environment;
Ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner;
Sensitivity to diverse population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics;
An understanding of the national, state and local climate as it relates to immigration;
