Description:
The Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network (GAIN), a nonprofit organization with a mission of providing free immigration legal services to victims of crime and persecution, is seeking a full-time Victims of Violence Navigator. GAIN provides free legal representation in immigration matters to persecuted asylum seekers and immigrant victims of human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as GAIN’s first point of contact for clients and incoming case referrals, including those from other legal and non-legal service organizations in the community
- Assist victims of crime navigate the immigration legal system, screen for additional legal and non-legal needs of crime victims, and provide appropriate referrals when necessary
- Conduct outreach to partnering agencies, community organizations, shelters, and others to help build a network for providing assistance to victims of crime in the State of Georgia
- Answer incoming calls, review messages and respond to queries from potential clients
- Create and maintain records for all client cases, including entry of data into case management system (Cerenade)
- Provide legal support to GAIN staff and manage client follow-up
- Participate in bi-monthly case review sessions with GAIN’S legal staff
- Prepare client correspondence and immigration forms for client filings with USCIS and EOIR
- Assist clients with document/evidence-gathering for cases
- Prepare case summaries for pro bono referrals
- Assist with data collection for grants and reports
- Assist with scheduling and other administrative needs
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Qualifications:
This position requires a very high level of organization and attention to detail, a strong work ethic, intuition, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Applicant should exhibit professionalism when communicating with clients, volunteer attorneys, community partners, etc. Sensitivity towards clients and cultural competency is required.
Applicant should be a fast learner and possess strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and understanding of database administration. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Applicant must be comfortable working in a legal setting. Fluency in Spanish (speaking/writing) is mandatory.
