ISS (also the publisher of Facing South), seeks a research director to lead the Institute’s research initiatives exposing injustice and supporting movements for change in the South.The full-time research director, whose role evolved from and expands on a previous research associate position, will work closely with Institute leaders to identify and investigate key trends impacting the South. The research director will also lead outreach efforts to put the Institute’s research into the hands of advocates and others fighting for justice and democracy in the region. Qualified Field Instructor – Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness
Unique opportunity. Applicants will be asked to go on a week-long training/orientation trip. The orientation trip is viewed as an interview process where you will experience the program structure. It is also a time for the prospective employee to “interview” the program. Participation in the orientation trip does not guarantee a position; however, BRTW will hire new employees on the last day of Orientation. The next training is May 11 to 17th. Field Instructors are pivotal to the success of BRTW. Field instructors work an 8-day on, 6-day off schedule. For the entire 8 days, instructors hike and camp with clients in the National Forest. The program serves youth “in-crisis”, ages 11-18. Field instructors work with licensed therapists to deliver an individualized experience to every client. The Field Instructor position is great for someone who wants to have a positive impact on youth while working in a beautiful outdoor setting. BRTW is known for their outstanding instructors and a high instructor to student ratio. Field Instructors are trained on wilderness and therapeutic skills during a 7-day Orientation trip and they receive continual training throughout their employment. The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia (ACLU of GA) seeks a sophisticated and experienced policy advocate to advance its civil liberties and civil rights agenda. The Policy Counsel provides vision and direction for the ACLU of Georgia’s policy and legislative program. The position is primarily responsible for state legislative and executive branch advocacy but also engages with administrative agencies, local government bodies, ballot measure campaigns, and the Georgia Congressional delegation. JD required and at least one year of local, state, and/or national-level legislative, political or policy advocacy work, preferably in Georgia.
