Have you ever wondered why a fire truck responds to your medical emergency, why the County has a SPLOST program, or how clean water gets to your house? The Gwinnett 101: Citizens Academy can help answer those questions and more.
Gwinnett County Government is accepting applications for the Fall 2015 class of Gwinnett 101: Citizens Academy. It’s a free, 10-week program that seeks to develop and nurture informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in Gwinnett. Class members will get a first-hand glimpse of how the County works, and build a network with others who live, work, and learn in Gwinnett County.
Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm beginning September 10 and ending with graduation and recognition by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, November 17.
Residents who are interested in participating in the program must be at least 18 years or older and be resident and/or business owner in Gwinnett, or attend a Gwinnett college or university. They must also have an interest in learning about county government, and be able to attend all sessions. Class size is limited to 30 participants who will be chosen by a selection committee.
Applications are available online at www.gwinnett101.com and must be received by Friday, July 31 in order to participate in the Fall 2015 session.
