NALEO Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Decision in
Texas v. United States
Washington, D.C.The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Texas v. United States:

“Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision on DAPA and expanded DACA underscores the overwhelming need for our nation to finally have a modern comprehensive immigration system in place that would benefit all Americans and honor our rich history.

“For far too long, divisive politics have stood in the way of bipartisan action on this critical issue.  Our nation will continue to suffer from the consequences of an antiquated system until Congress acts to pass immigration reform legislation that upholds our values and grows our economy through full inclusion of the millions of immigrants living in the shadows today.

“Immigration is a deeply personal issue for the Latino community.  As Americans with immigrant loved ones and friends who have been waiting for the day when they will be fully welcomed into our society once and for all, Latinos have grown tired of the waiting and political posturing.

“When Latinos head to the polls this November, immigration reform will be one of the issues that is front and center as they decide which candidates and leaders will have their support at the ballot box.

“NALEO Educational Fund will continue to be here for the Latino and immigrant community in the wake of this decision, offering free support to prospective new Americans through hundreds of citizenship workshops across the country and our year round toll-free bilingual 1-888-839-8682 hotline.”
