February 17, 2017 (ATLANTA, GA) – GALEO has accepted a record number of applications for the GALEO Institute for Leadership, cohort of 2017, for a total of 50 participants this year.

As part of the GALEO Institute for Leadership, GALEO has continued our strategic partnership with the University of Georgia’s Fanning Institute to expand and develop our joint efforts for the Community Leadership Program. This year’s number of applicants reached a record number of 60 applicants from over 14 counties all over the state. The largest number of applicants came from four counties: Gwinnett, DeKalb, Cobb, and Hall.

The seminars are open to all persons, regardless of their racial or ethnic background. Diverse participants were encouraged to apply. This year’s cohort is made up of 30 women and 20 men, with ages ranging from the late forties to late teens. Over 12 different nationalities are represented with this year’s cohort.

An opening reception will be held this evening at 6:30pm at Kilpatrick Townsend in midtown Atlanta to welcome the new class. Media is welcome to attend today’s event. The GALEO Institute for Leadership will then continue on Saturday, February 18, 2017, for a full day of sessions from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
