GALEO Condemns the Trump Administration’s 2020 Census Citizenship Question
Atlanta, GA – Following the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census, Jerry Gonzalez, GALEO Executive Director, released a statement today:
“Today the U.S Department of Commerce and the Trump administration made the decision to jeopardize the integrity of an accurate of count of the decennial census and of the immigrant community. Despite the input of many expert organizations and many leaders in the community, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross decided to include the citizenship question.

La Importancia de los Trabajadores Agrícolas Inmigrantes en Georgia
Los trabajadores agrícolas son vitales para el éxito de la economía de Georgia y las granjas a gran escala debido a su arduo trabajo y dedicación a través de reveses, incluyendo salarios bajos, duras condiciones de trabajo y leyes estrictas de inmigración. Las injusticias incluyen poco pago y leyes de inmigración que proponen como amenazas a los trabajadores inmigrantes. What is the definition of an influencer? An individual who affects your morale? Your creativity? Your MVP? Your decisions to help your community? Your leadership style? Cesar Chavez had an M.V.P. a mission, vision, and passion for doing good to for his community and to this day he is the medium of my work. Chavez’s love was to help others. His mission was to change the lifestyle of labor workers in their quest to better pay and working conditions. His vision was to see a transformative change for labor workers through continuous sacrifice in hunger strikes. Chavez’s influence radiates through my willingness to address ethical/ humane measures to advocate for the undocumented community and education.
